Hello,
I am Doug Wagner. I teach students the upper-level mathematics courses at DLB.
I grew up on a dairy and small grains farm near Douglas, North Dakota. I graduated from Max High School in 1974 and earned my undergraduate degree from Valley City State University in 1978. I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching from Minot State University in 1994 and continue to pursue ways to better serve the students at DLB.
This is my 38th year at DesLacs-Burlington after having spent two years teaching in Mora, Minnesota. I consider it a huge blessing to be able to confidently say that I enjoy each year teaching young people more than the one previous.
I am married to Diane, who is the elementary counselor at Burlington-DesLacs Elementary. We have two children. Our daughter, Lindsey, lives in Plymouth Minnesota with her husband Brian and our two grandchildren. Their son, Ruben Douglas, turned five years old this past June. Their daughter, Darlene Lillian, was eighteen months old on August 8 this past summer.
Our son Landon, lives in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Landon works for Rockwell-Collins as a senior processing engineer.
Here's looking to another great year at DLBHS!
It's with mixed emotions that I type the following:
Diane and I turned in our letters of resignation in early February. We are retiring at the end of this school year.
It has been a wonderful 40 years in education with 38 of them at Des Lacs-Burlington.
We consider it to be a great blessing to have had the opportunity to cross paths with so many wonderful people.
The emotions are mixed because we still like going to work; but like I've said many times the last few month;
I think I'm going to like not going to work.
We have so many memories that we will forever treasure, but the next stage of our lives is calling;
we are answering that call and hope to make more and new memories
We have every confidence that the counseling at BDLE, the upper level mathematics classroom, and
the basketball program at DLBHS are all left in good hands.
As Ecclesiastes 3 says (and the Byrds copied in song in the middle 60's) - "For everything there is a season".
Our lives are entering a new season. We are looking back with great thankfulness and looking forward with anxious anticipation!
